AIA on tour: astronomy clubs are born in high schools
Mobile planetarium, water-rocket workshops and new clubs: how our school tours plant astronomy in young minds.
AIA travels to schools in Abidjan and across the country. Every visit follows the same rhythm: a mobile planetarium session, a hands-on workshop (water rockets included) and, weather permitting, a telescope observation.
The goal is to leave behind a lasting astronomy club run by the students themselves. The association lends equipment, provides course materials and comes back regularly. The aim is not to train astronomers, but to show that scientific careers are within reach.
Girls are put in the front row, including at the telescope controls: science needs them.
